“Listen and the walls will tell you the story”
Antonio Acito, architect
“Matera is a message for the whole Mediterranean,
for all countries of the world,
for all villages, for the recovery of all abandoned places.
It is a message for the whole of Europe”
Pietro Laureano, art historian
Mathera is a documentary dedicated to the Capital of Culture 2019. Authoritative voices from the world of art history and architecture alternate with testimonies of those who have chosen to live or to work in the “Sassi” (Stones). From their dialogue, it emerges a poignant picture of a city that is one of the oldest in the world that’s still inhabited and that – today more than ever – continues to charm and attract tourists from all over the world.
During the day, between the Lucana sunrise that bathes in light the waterfall of buildings towards the ravine and the sunset that transforms the courts into a nativity scene, 8K shots from the ground and by drone lead the viewer on an unforgettable journey between culture, art and history. An experience that leads to the reflection of how the past is an experience to treasure to encourage looking at the future in a perspective of respect and sustainability.
