Brilliant, transgressive, desecrating, universal, a journey into the thinking behind the most famous signature of contemporary street art with expert Alessandro Romanini and the voice of Banksy.
Through the walls, paintings, objects and installations he has signed, but above all through his voice, we take a journey into Banksy-thinking by adding the opinion of art historian Alessandro Romanini. The very few interviews with the street artist are offered alternating with his most famous works. Going into the details of the works, we recount the themes of rights, integration, the climate emergency, ecology and the art world.
Thanks to Romanini’s angle, we enter into an analysis of the character from the point of view of the provocation and criticism of society that Banksy expresses in almost all his works, also touching on the subject of anonymity behind which the artist has decided to conceal his face.
Banksy is reported to the authorities for vandalism, conspiracy, racketeering and counterfeiting. In the scenarios in which he moves, he is often under the attention of anti-graffiti task forces. Perhaps it is also for this reason that the character continues to arouse curiosity, even in the world of gallery owners and collectors where his works reach considerable values, despite the fact that Banksy also continues to offer his works through street stalls or radio broadcasts.
The narration is accompanied by the voice of Banksy’s most representative Italian follower, the Leghorn street artist Mart Signed. Influenced by the international star, he is embarking on his own path that, while not ceasing to look to the visual genius of the Englishman, revives his own original creative vein. Helping to build a bridge between the two worlds comes to us from the young art historian Lorenzo Vivarelli.
